PRESS BIO:

The vocal gymnastics Amy Lynn Zanetto can pull off in a mini-dress and
stilettos would have Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Mariah Carey on
their feet by curtain call. As each of these women has done before
her, Amy Lynn brings her own unique flair to the diva tradition,
adding a quirky, down-to-earth humor to her front woman role that
lands Amy Lynn and Gunshow in a league of their own.

The Gunshow, lead by lovebirds, Amy & Alex, has a 60s pop and soul
sound—marked by powerhouse singers and infectious horn licks—as
especially fertile ground on which to showcase their combined talents.
Together and apart they have played all around the world gracing the
stage with Duffy, St. Vincent, Lucy Woodward, Yo La Tengo, Spoon, The
Radio City Orchestra, and many more. Just recently Amy & Alex’s song
"Missing You" was on the WB networks show "Big Easy Brides."

Given the Gunshow’s standout showmanship and feel-good energy, it’s no
wonder that their performances at NYC’s top venues, including the
Highline Ballroom, The Mercury Lounge, and Joe’s Pub, have met with
glowing reviews. Better stay tuned: they’ll soon be tearing up a stage
near you.

Great Neck Arts Center announces new Jewish Film Series in partnership with Great Neck Synagogue

The Great Neck Arts Center is partnering with Great Neck Synagogue to expand their film offerings with the new Jewish Film Series. The series, modeled after the Arts Center’s successful Furman Film Series which presents independent, art, classic, and foreign films, will highlight films with Jewish themes and/or featuring Jewish artists and filmmakers. Like the Furman Film Series, all films will be followed by a discussion with a relevant speaker who will provide exciting insight into the film and its subject matter. The series will be held on five monthly Monday nights: February 13, March 5, April 16, May 14, and June 4.

“It is clear from the success of the Great Neck Arts Center’s Gold Coast International Film Festival and our nearly sold out screenings at the Furman Film Series that there is a growing audience here for intelligent, thoughtful, and entertaining films,” says Regina Gil, Executive Director and Founder of the Arts Center. “We are thrilled to partner with the Great Neck Synagogue on this new series which will feature previews as well as some classic films, and bring prominent filmmakers and speakers to our post-screening Q&As.”

The series begins February 13 with the film Musical Chairs, directed by Susan Seidelman. A romantic tale about two New Yorkers, Armando from the Bronx, and Mia from the East Side, and their love of ballroom dancing. Mia is a vivacious professional dancer but a tragic accident forever changes her life. True to his heart, Armando dedicates himself, along with a group of colorful misfits, to help Mia deal with her challenges and dance once more. There will be a discussion after the screening with the film’s director Susan Seidelman, whose previous work includes Desperately Seeking Susan and the first television episodes of Sex and the City.

Musical Chairs is presented as part of the ReelAbilities Film Festival, the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities. Furman Film Series regulars may remember ReelAbilities festival director Isaac Zablocki, who spoke after last year’s screening of The Human Resources Manager during the Winter 2011 series. For more information about ReelAbilities, visit http://newyork.reelabilities.org.

Next up on March 5 is Pelotero, official selection of the Hamptons Film Festival directed by Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin, and Jonathan Paley and narrated by John Leguizamo. Baseball is a way of life in the Dominican Republic. Major League Baseball has wisely invested in recruiting Dominicans with a training program that has the world’s largest number of future major leaguers per capita. Each year, a handful of Dominican players, almost always from low-income families, are selected to begin their careers in the United States. That invitation comes with a signing bonus and the promise of a secure future for their families. The system, however, is flawed. A must-see for fans of baseball, Pelotero tells the story of two of the nation’s most talented hopefuls, and their long, rocky road towards achieving their dreams. There will be a post-screening discussion with director and Pelotero producer Isaac Solotaroff.

Joan Mickling Silver’s 1975 film Hester Street will screen on April 16. The story of Jewish immigrants who come to the Lower East Side of New York City in 1896 from Europe, Hester Street stars Carol Kane in an Oscar-nominated role.  The film is noteworthy for its detailed reconstruction of Jewish immigrant life, with much of the dialogue delivered in Yiddish with English subtitles. Director Joan Mickling Silver will join the audience for a Q&A after the film, to discuss the film that pioneered a wave of films that dealt with the complexities of American Jewish identity. She will be joined by producer Sarah Teale

Details on for May 14 and June 4 films will be announced shortly.

Films in the Great Neck Synagogue Jewish Film Series will be screened on Monday evenings at 7:30 pm at Clearview Cinemas Great Neck Squire Theater, 115 Middle Neck Road. Entry is 7:00 pm for subscribers and 7:15 for ticket holders. Each screening has a Q&A with a notable filmmaker or personality after the film.

Subscriptions to the series are $75 ($65 for seniors and Great Neck Synagogue members) and individual tickets are $15 ($10 for students, $20 at the door subject to availability). For more information, call the Great Neck Arts Center at (516) 829-2570 or visit www.greatneckarts.org/Film.htm

EP REVIEW: Walking Sideways - Walking Sideways (EP) (2011)

By:  Cyrus Rhodes

Artist: Walking Sideways
EP: Walking Sideways
Label: Popcore Entertainment
Website: http://www.walkingsidewaysband.com/

Genre: Alternative Rock, Progressive Pop-Rock
Sounds Like: Live, Incubus, The Verve Pipe
Technical Grade: 9/10
Production/Musicianship Grade: 7/10
Commercial Value: 7/10
Overall Talent Level: 7/10

Performance Skill: 7/10
Best Songs: Innocent Mistake

Weakness: Winded Songs, Excessive Intros and Outros, Short Sided EP

EP REVIEW:

Long Island New York’s own Walking Sideways releases their debut self titled EP in 2011. Band members include Erik Hagedorn (Vocals, Acoustic Guitar), Joe Brown (Guitar), Justin Cellini (Bass) and Chris Ciccone (Drums).

The EP kicks things off with “Innocent Mistake’ a dynamic intro piece that serves up steady rock rhythm, against infectious vocal vibe, hypnotic melody line and an impressive vocal finale. Track 2 “Haven” shifts gears a bit with methodical guitar intro eventually evolving into a heartfelt follow-up piece that flows and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition. This coupled with mesmerizing guitar ambience and hypnotic vocal layering makes for a very interesting follow-up piece. As the CD slowly unfolds I can hear many different musical soundscapes reminiscent of such classic acts such as Incubus, Live, Jeff Buckley, Muse and The Verve Pipe. Right from the start you will notice rich musical textures overflowing everywhere, full of passion, variety and strong melodic structure. The songs themselves are addictive and packed full of passionate lyrical content and subject matter that simply cannot be faked. The music itself is an impressive blend of rock, alternative rock with just a dash progressive-pop. Besides the typical 4 piece standard, I also didn’t fail to notice some impressive guitar solos, solid rhythm section and lush harmonies layered along the way. Hagedorn’s voice works well within the confines of this catalogue and I might add he takes some impressive vocal risks throughout the EP indicating to me a strong and confident vocal ability. Enter the rest of the bands musicianship - equally as impressive. The EP ends with Track 3 “Magellan” the perfect finale statement for a CD of this caliber.

All songs over 3.5 minutes tend to drag you to the finish line. It’s fair to say many of the songs have excessive intros and outros. This 3 song line-up is a bit short when compared to the 5 song EP standard.

Walking Sideways is an impressive musical teaser from start to finish. This band possesses enough musical talent and songwriting prowess to be extremely dangerous. The music is clean, goes down smooth and is full of passion. The messages are passionate, honest and melancholy – all from the artist’s brilliant perspective. The true meaning of some of these songs is buried deep within the lyrical content and not so easily pinned down the first listen. I really admire artists out there who are themselves and just let the chips fall where they may. Praise goes out to the artist or band that can show us something real and genuine beneath their veil of vanity. Walking Sideways is one of those bands. I look forward to hearing the full length release hopefully later on this year.

Myles Marcus Review

I can say that I’ve never personally been a huge fan of pop music, but the new single by Myles Marcus has definitely got me jumping. Myles Marcus is an unsigned pop, R&B artist from Spartus, New Jersey. What’s unique about this vocal powerhouse Jersey boy is he’s only 18! His new single “Jump”, produced with rapper Roy Royalty Hamilton, is proving that this kid is a music force to be reckoned with.

“Jump” is a pop, R&B song that is sure to please pop music fans. “Jump” has all things that a good pop song needs: great vocals, memorable lyrics, and a good beat. The chorus is absolutely catchy and the beat makes you want to get up and dance. Myles Marcus’ vocals are absolutely wonderful, and the boy proves he has some powerful pipes. Marcus’ crisp and clear voice is perfectly matched to a bouncy beat making “Jump” seem ready for the clubs. With “Jump”, Myles Marcus is definitely making it clear to the pop, R&B community that he’s someone to watch for. I’m sure that if Myles can continue to crank out tunes like “Jump”, we’ll be hearing him on the radio soon!

Charlie Dane, Dreamland

January 23, 2012 | by Skope

Charlie Dane is a 13 year old singer & guitar player who has already accomplished a lot at her very young age, including, and this is the reason you’re reading this review, releasing a full length album called “Dreamland”. She played South by Southwest, a festival most bands dream of playing. She’s quite heavily trained and has played over 100 shows in the last 18 months. Most indie bands haven’t even played 100 shows, so that tells you right away that this girl is dedicated. This review will judge “Dreamland” according to the market it’s selling to, which is both kids and teens. It’s obvious right away that Charlie Dane is experienced, talented and charismatic. She could easily grow into a star’s shoes.

The track “Dreamland” is catchy and engaging right from the first second. Charlie’s voice sounds sincere and her phrasing is dead on. She seems to be injecting so much soul in her main vocal, it makes you look forward to what’s to come as she gets older.  She’s also not afraid to work outside the usual expectations, adding some quirky and humorous lyrics such as “Someone said there’s something in your ear. A prickly starfish and other stuff I fear” and belting out melodies that sound inspired by classic rock. This speaks volumes for Charlie Dane’s maturity and her intuition when approaching these songs. The guitars and rhythm section in the backing band did a wonderful job of creating a pop/rock track that’s actually interesting.

“Past the Point” is a soothing, bitter-sweet song that’s too upbeat to be a ballad but too down-tempo to be an energized pop hit, and it’s a great way to continue the pop/rock balance of the album. “Tuesday’s Just As Bad” is very catchy, and could easily become popular. Imagine what the concept of “Friday” would have been like if the track was well-written and charming. That gives you an idea.

“Back in Time” continues Charlie Dane’s sincere singing approach overtop of seamless guitar work and major label sounding production. Who wouldn’t want to go back in time, even if just to hang around for a while? The chosen themes are age appropriate, and this isn’t an album filled with awkward club tracks, which is refreshing. It also gives you the sense that this is honest work.  “Outside the Box” is a definite stunner and highlight, and it sounds heavily influenced by Sgt. Pepper era Beatles, namely “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite”. This is ok though – in fact, it would be just fine if many more songs were inspired by these works.

“Soaring” is another highlight of the release, opening with a beautiful piano piece and a melancholic yet hopeful feel. Charlie’s vocal gymnastics are displayed here, and you can hear the training – this is a good thing. With this kind of vocal control, she could sing just about anything. “Until It’s Gone” picks up the pace with a bluesy, foot-stomping number before closing the album with another soulful ballad, “98”.

All in all, Charlie Dane packs more soul into her music than any other artist her age (at least, that I’m aware of). While I don’t typically listen to music made for this demographic, I instantly respected her, and look forward to hearing the direction she’ll choose to go as the years go by. She could listen to the “industry” voices, or, with her talent, she could go her own way and write whatever she wants to. She could be a great rock, blues or pop artist, or even bend the rules and do work that’s completely original. Her voice is that good. It’s the latter that I’m hoping for.

INTERVIEW: Irena Hart

By Cyrus Rhodes

_______________________________________________________

I recently had the privilege of reviewing the latest CD from Ukraine born Irena Hart entitled Heart Strings (2011). From start to finish this latest release is a rock solid production. It’s extremely likeable and danceable - and will suck you in like a drug. It’s strength the impressive songwriting, modern-day marketability and infectious vocal presence by Hart herself. Make no bones about she is a marquee talent and one would be wise to keep a watchful eye on her over the next several years.

IMD  How would you describe your music and overall writings style?

IH  I am a self taught musician and a song writer.  I write from the heart and create my best work. When I least expect it.  Typically I write the lyrics first and then find the melody – but I have a few songs where I did the opposite and one that came to me in a dream complete with music and lyrics.  I can put my lyrics to many musical styles and I have done that. I love to experiment and allow the creativity to guide me.  I also tend to have a positive outlook on life and so my lyrics are generally positive.

IMD Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

IH Jewel, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Madonna, Linda Perry

IMD  What was the first song you ever wrote?

IH “Out of Time” – It is about wanting to escape from the life that you know. I have it recorded in a Rock and Roll style.

IMD  So you’re originally from the Ukraine?

IH Yes, I was born in Kiev and come from a musical family.  I speak Russian and have written some Russian Hip Hop songs. I moved to USA when I was 12 – right to CT – it took me 3 months to be able to pronounce the word Connecticut – after that it was all down hill from there.

IMD  What’s the main thing you want fans to take from your music?

IH To follow their hearts and to believe in love.

IMD  What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

IH I love going to concerts and it is very difficult to just pick one, but in August of 2010 while on a national tour that I was actually on for Harmony4kidz – I met Bob Dylan’s stage manager and lighting manager and was invited to watch Bob Dylan’s concert that happened to be right down the street from where I was staying.  I got to see Bob Dylan right from the control booth in a small outdoor theater in Jackson Wyoming underneath a star lit sky. Bob Dylan, who is one of my favorite artists, was really on that night and the experience was truly unforgettable.

IMD  Is there a song that stands out on this release as being your favorite on your latest album?

IH  I really love this album and practically every song on it, but if I had to choose my favorite, I really like the song “Almost” because I like the beat and I can listen to that song over and over again.

"I love connecting with the audience and to feed off their energy"

- Irena Hart -

_______________________________________________________

IMD  I really enjoyed the title track “Parallel Dimension” and “Deeper Everyday” could you tell us a bit more about those pieces?

IH They are both based on true stories. “Parallel Dimension” is about someone I had a really wicked crush on but we were only acquaintances and led separate lives. Every time we would speak, I felt as though time stopped. It was a really powerful feeling, so I had to write about it.  “Deeper Everyday” was also influenced by a love interest.  I was performing at a show and he walked by the stage. The idea for the song was born at that very moment.  I wrote the song a few days later - remembering the feeling of that moment. The song is a story about what I wished for us to have if we would ever end up together.

IMD  Can you tell us what you like most about performing live?

IH I love connecting with the audience and to feed off their energy as I perform each song. I love to make the audience laugh and to draw them into the story of each song.  I love it when the people relate to what I am singing about and talking about.  I love to see them having fun and enjoying themselves. I enjoy performing with other musicians on stage – it is truly a natural high.

IMD  How is the Music Business in your neck of the woods?  What’s the best and worst things about working in the LA area?

IH I actually live in CT and perform in CT and NYC. I did a lot of my videos and photo shoots in L.A. and the producer of Heart Strings lives in L.A…  I love L.A. very much and L.A. definitely loves me. I always get a very good vibe when I come to L.A. for my music. Personally, I think L.A. is the best place for an artist to be because there is more work there and you can gain more experience quicker in L.A.  I also like the way everyone is really relaxed as opposed to NYC. As for my neck of the woods, CT and NYC – being an independent artist in general requires a lot of perseverance.  NYC is full of opportunity and you have to be in the mix and put your music and your talent out there, if you want to make progress.  I am always thinking of what’s next and what else I can do to push my music career to the next level.

IMD  What’s next for Irena Hart? Any major touring?

IH I am working on my next album at the moment. I have a few music video ideas as well. I love making music videos, by the way.  I also have been working on a screen play, entitled Bermuda Road. I just finished another round of edits and it is really taking shape.  It is a feature film and I am very excited about how it is turning out so far.  I am also excited about working with Popcore Entertainment and Rick – we will be promoting Heartstrings single in Long Island area starting in February and we have some cool surprises for Valentines Day. I have a new duo act, Valiante Hart – and we are working on some new styles of writing and performing as well.

Terra Stigma, And Beyond

January 13, 2012 | by Skope

How easy is to find a great band that has it all, don’t be the same studio brain watching music? Well, the answer is hard, really hard, at least you take a time to dig really deep into the ground where like in pirate tales, and you would find the gold.

Coming all the way from New York, Terra Stigma is one of this today’s extinct bands that sadly we can’t found on radio, TV or music websites. These guys belongs to this groups we always ask why aren’t they famous than this or the other person or band. Recalling bands like Tool, Pearl Jam, a soft Mudvayne, Shinedown and such amazing acts, they bring us their latest album Leave my Body, a masterpiece everyone needs to listen and just the ignorants, terrible music taste people will not be able to enjoy.

To have an idea of how awesome is this record and these folks, think of the most awesome experience you had or dreamed of and multiply it by million. It’s evocative, just wonderful piece of art, epic are some words that can describe somehow this. The riffs are perfect and match with the rocking vocals. Lyrically they are pretty dark and hopefulness in pretty much his totality, which you can say is the only think that doesn’t fit with the music in the entire album.

Besides that, leave what you are doing and run to get your copy at http://facebook.com/terrastigma and just enjoy!

CD REVIEW: Lisa Bianco - Momentum  (2011)

Commercial Value: 9/10
Overall Talent Level: 9/10
Songwriting Skills: 10/10
Performance Skill: 10/10
Best Songs: Erase You, No Doubt About it, Breakin
Weakness: Short-Sided CD (feels more like an EP than a full length), Cover Art Concept

CD REVIEW:

New York based Lisa Bianco releases her latest release entitled Momentum in 2011. This is her third release to date. Bianco plays guitar and sings. Other players include: Ari Sadowitz (Bass), Lou Petto (Drums), Bryan Russell (Keyboards and Programming), Produced by Bryan Russell of Seaside Lounge, Brooklyn, NY.

The CD quickly takes flight with “Breakin” an upbeat intro groove that serves up an inviting vocal groove against driving rock rhythm, rocking guitar and impressive vocals from Bianco. Track 2 Erase You” keeps thing moving in the right direction with its rocking intro, heartfelt vocals and defiant lyrical content. Track 3 “Charmed” dishes out jumping melody, catchy rhythm guitar against more impressive vocals and harmonies from Bianco. I would classify this music as rocked out Power Pop. The production quality is impressive providing much in the way of sonic touches, and the musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. Along the way you will notice lush instrumentation with things like rocked out rhythm section, sizzling solos, slamming guitar chops, combined with lush vocals and harmonies layered everywhere. The rhythm section pushes the natural accents well. Now turning our attention over to Bianco - as for her vocal abilities her voice works well within the confines of this rocked-out catalogue. I suspect some of her vocal influences are – Cheryl Crow, Liz Phair, Joan Jett and perhaps K.T Tunstall. Just to name a few. Song for song this is a very “sing-songy” marketable statement from Bianco. Momentum from Bianco delivers 7 compelling tracks all providing thought provoking wisdom with no holds barred messages that are uplifting, positive and positively defiant in nature. From passionate “Big City Lights” to heartfelt “Lovely” to dynamic “No Doubt About It” this CD has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with “Low” the perfect finale statement for a CD like this.

Unfortunately this 7 song release feels more like an EP than a full length release. Perhaps 3-4 more songs are needed to really seal the deal for me in a full length capacity. At the end of the day this CD feels like an incomplete statement to me. It’s fair to say the cover art misses the mark completely, especially given the style of artist and genera. If I was her Producer I would definitely put more of an emphasis on Bianco and her rock solid look rather than some obsolete looking symbol.

From start to finish “Momentum” by Lisa Bianco delivers the goods and is an impressive collection of music nonetheless. If there were 3-4 more tracks it would definitely get 10 stars from me. The music is highly passionate, uplifting and entertaining. The songwriting – all songs are consistent musical experiences, each one possessing a unique personality, flair and signature groove. Note for note, song for song this catalogue is rock solid and extremely consistent. The writing and playing abilities of Bianco’s band are rock solid, the melodies and harmonies are well - crafted. The lyrical content is packed to the hilt with conventional wisdom.  Overall Momentum provides an interesting snapshot of a up an coming talent from New York.

BRAVO TV TOP CHEF DANNY GAGNON OPENS NEW RESTAURANT ON NORTH SHORE
New York based celebrity chef brings his signature Italian-Asian fusion dishes to upscale Long Island eatery

Glen Head, NY (November 1, 2011) - Danny Gagnon, the New Hyde Park born Executive Chef who gained international notoriety on the hit Bravo TV series Top Chef, has joined forces with the well respected Bernard’s Market & Cafe and owner Robert Byrne, to create DoraNonnie Tapas & Wine Bar @ Bernard’s located at 716 Glen Cove Avenue in Glen Head, NY 11545

Bernard’s Market and Cafe, which has been described as four-star catering by The New York Times and as one of the top markets and takeout establishments in Nassau by Newsday, offers world-class Prepared Foods, Chopped Salads, Paninis, Sushi, Prime Meats, Seafood and more, making it a perfect fit as a sister store to DoraNonnie. The new Tapas & Wine Bar features the Italian-Asian Fusion cooking that has made Chef Danny Gagnon famous during his career at renowned local restaurants such as East By Northeast, Harvest on Fort Pond, Pacific East, Babylon Carriage House and Social Sports Kitchen.

A mutual friend at Lieb Cellars winery was the catalyst for bringing together Gagnon and Byrne. They came up with the DoraNonnie concept, which was named after Danny’s two Grandmothers: Dora and Nonnie. Danny was influenced by his grandmothers at a young age to cook from the heart and keep family in mind. Try unique Fusion dishes such as Long Island Duck Tacos, dollopped with Avocado Mousse & Pickled Radish; Creamy Clam Cakes, served with Thai Basil Lemon Jam; and Ginger Poached Chicken Lettuce Cups, with Burnt Soy Emulsion. Choose from the DoraNonnie Wine Bar’s wide selection of imported and domestic wines like La Cala Vermentino from Italy, 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State and the local Lieb Cellars Chardonnay from the North Fork of Long Island. For dessert, try the sweet which won the Top Chef Dessert Round.

Additionally, DoraNonnie has a full catering menu featuring exquisite selections of passed hors d’oeuvres. All of DoraNonnie’s dinner items are under $20, so the evening is very affordable. SONG “31” RELEASED AS ONE SAILOR’S POIGNANT TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN

Navy Officer and Songwriter/Producer Writes and Records a Commemorative Song in Remembrance of Those Lost in Afghanistan on August 6th, 2011

Westbury, NY (August 16th, 2011) – Naval Officer and Songwriter Randell Beck was moved on a personal level on August 6th 2011, when word came that a helicopter was shot down by Afghan insurgents as it was rushing to aid troops in a firefight, killing 30 Americans, including 22 Navy SEALs, most of whom belonged to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, the unit whose members were reportedly involved in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

"The selfless acts of these brave people brought me the inspiration for this song, a tribute to their memory which will hopefully last forever in the minds of all those who hear it”. Randell said “That’s why I’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds of this song to the United States Navy Veterans Association”.

You can listen to and purchase the song “31” by Randell Beck here:
http://www.reverbnation.com/randellbeck#!/artist/song_details/9768439

Please view a video companion piece that Randell created here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsyQi_hZgc0

Randell, who was born in San Antonio and raised on the high plains of West Texas in Levelland, which is located near Lubbock, an area etched into musical history as the home of Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Mac Davis, JD Souther, and Joe Ely, grew up with a deep abiding love for guitar and all its musical expression as well as for the United States of America and all the freedom it affords to its citizens.

So much so that after completing his 4-year degree at Texas Tech University, Beck joined the US Navy as an officer and was stationed in Japan for 2 ½ years. He was the first member of the Texas Tech Naval ROTC to receive a commission.  After initial training, he was assigned to the USS Fife (DD-991) as the Damage Control Assistant, where he managed the Repair division, trained the ship’s firefighting organization, and qualified as a surface warfare officer, engineering officer, and combat information center officer.  He was also the gunnery officer aboard Fife.

"When I heard about their deaths, I was reminded once again of the huge sacrifices made by the men and women of our military and their families,” Randell said. “On a personal level, it hurts to the core, and I wanted to do something to help ease their families’ pain”.

And Randell Beck knows firsthand what it’s like to be in the thick of things, in the Special Warfare Commands (SEAL Teams) handling assignments as Commander of the reserve unit for the USS Robin, a special operations craft, and qualified as assault craft commander at Special Boat Unit 20.  Subsequently he filled positions at SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1, was the assistant Plans, Procurement, and Requirements Officer at Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG) and was on staff of CINCLANTFLT, hosting the International Naval Review in 200 in New York.

As a musician, Randell has been performing in bands and solo since high school, filling the lead guitar chair for world renowned jazz bands, and on a national level has performed with Country Caravan (SPC), members of Sixpence None the Richer, One Bad Pig, and the Nation. He is currently recording and performing both as a solo acoustic singer and as leader of the Americana/Country powerhouse Silvertrain.

“This song is dedicated to the members of NSWDG who lost their lives Aug 6, 2011, under questionable circumstances, and the men of the Navy, Army, and Marines that were with them. May they be received with honor in the long home of their fathers”.

Randell will be performing this Fall in the New York area with stops at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington on Friday September 9th, at Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre on Thursday September 22nd, and at Westfield Sunrise Mall on Friday October 14th.

CHARETTA - “A NATION DISTRACTED”

New York City based rock band CHARETTA will be releasing their new EP “A Nation Distracted” on July 21st.  The date coincides with their scheduled performance at Irving Plaza in New York City.

“A Nation Distracted” features five tracks that were recorded with producer Mike Watts (Story of the Year, Theory of a Deadman) at VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, NY.  “Great grooves, monster riffs, and killer vocals,” as described by Watts.  The band will be touring in the Northeast this summer in support of the new EP.

CHARETTA is Angelina DelCarmen on vocals, Pablo LaFrossia and Chris Fullam on guitars, Richard Mollo on bass and Adonis Sanchez on drums.   Formed in 2007, their powerful live shows and unique musical style have made them a fan favorite in the New York music scene.  The band’s debut album “Defying the Inevitable” produced by Brett Hestla (Creed, Dark New Day) was released in July 2009.

CHARETTA has been compared to the likes of Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin & Evanescence, yet their style is extremely original and distinct.  Their music can be found on the band’s website charetta.com, as well as other major music sites such as iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and Pandora.

ABOUT SMITHTOWN HOT YOGA
"Bringing Bikram Yoga into your life cleanses the body and calms the mind" said Studio Manager and Co-Owner Debbie Burack "The studio is HOT (over 100 degrees) to facilitate deeper stretching, prevent injury, relieve stress and tension and to detoxify the body, giving you a complete system of wellness, restoration and rejuvenation".

For the uninitiated, Bikram Yoga was designed to systematically stimulate and restore health to every muscle, joint and organ of the body. Participants are guided through a series of 26 postures, each increasing in physical challenge. Participants of all ages notice an increase in energy, strength, balance, flexibility and mental focus. The body is flushed of toxins, leaving a deep sense of relaxation and well-being.

Hot yoga is a generic term that may refer to any type of yoga practiced in a heated environment. The theory behind hot yoga is that it helps the body to sweat out toxins while allowing the practitioner to safely come deeper into asanas (poses or stretches). The room temperature for a hot yoga class can range from 30 to 50 C (85 to 122 F). Humidity can range from 40% to 60%. Different methods draw from Hatha, Vinyasa, and other yoga styles. Though the Bikram style was a pioneering force, it is not the only style of hot yoga.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
All Music Inc. Breaks Ground on New Hauppauge Sales Facility and Rock N Roll University

Hauppauge, NY (April 14, 2011) Since 1984, when acts like Long Island’s own Twisted Sister and Pat Benatar were at the top, All Music Inc. (located at 397D S. Oyster Bay Rd in Plainview, NY 11803) has been the starting point for many beginning musicians, countless intermediate players and a home for professional musicians as well.

Now they are taking their show on the road so to speak, adding a sister store in Suffolk. This brand new facility which will be located conveniently in Hauppauge is scheduled to be Opening June 1st; the groundbreaking was just this past week. What makes this store special is that it will include a teaching facility called "Rock-n-Roll University" which will focus on getting kids into bands and then helping them with booking performances at clubs, recording a CD and with other steps on their road to rock stardom.

"Our years of exceptional customer service and of bonding with our customers as kindred spirits of sorts have helped turn the tide against the big box stores in our favor; thankfully, our notoriety and sales has been steadily increasing year after year" said Guy Brogna, co owner of All Music Inc. "That ground work has enabled us to make this bold move with confidence and vigor".

When you couple this working man’s ethos with the fact that the store boasts over 10,000 instruments in stock and over 1,000 guitars on display, it’s easy to see why. All Music Inc. offers everyone who steps down their stairs the greatest musical experience imaginable; a music store FOR musicians BY musicians - and now there will be two of them!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Celebrity Chef Nilka Hendricks of FOX 5 Hells Kitchen Goes Back to the Future with Freeport’s Retro Lounge & Grill

Freeport, NY (April 8, 2011) What do you get when you mix the management and promotional skills of Neil Curtis, a lifelong Freeport resident and restaurantaur, with celebrity chef Nilka Hendricks? Something fresh and unique that has been sorely missed in the Freeport area for some time!

From their website, Retro is a renovation of Freeport’s star-filled, show biz history. Located at 10 Brooklyn Ave, Al B. White opened this location in 1939. Many still remember it as the most popular place at that time.

"Our goal with Retro Lounge was to bring a NYC restaurant feel to Long Island. We renovated thoughtfully and with a purpose inside, and stayed true to the old world look outside - melding the two worlds seemlessly for a one of a kind dining and entertainment experience" said Neil Curtis, owner of Retro Lounge.

Nilka Hendricks, a chef from our own Long Island backyard who became a household name after a 6 week stint on the popular FOX 5 Hells Kitchen reality show last year, is their executive chef and also assists with booking the many bands, acoustic acts, comedians and other performers who continue to grace the stage as the evenings turn into nights.

Nilka has designed a diverse menu featuring a blend of international fusion cuisine including their most popular dishes: a grilled jerk ribeye steak and coconut crusted king crab legs - and their entertainment schedule is just as diverse. Staying true to the original Al B. Whites mantra, but with a modern feel in both the decor and the menu.

Retro Lounge is carving out a new future for Freeport dining and nightlife, and they welcome you to join them to make a little history together, 7 days a week.

For more information about Retro Lounge, please visit their website at http://www.retroloungeny.com or call (516)867-1100

About Lonnys:
Lonnys first opened its doors on March 21, 1971 in Oceanside, NY and quickly became the most talked about women’s contemporary boutique on Long Island. Mothers and daughters alike, who frequented the stores, often got a chance to chat with Ina and Walter Goldstein, the founders of the business. Lonnys became not only a trendy place to shop but a place where customers could stay and feel at home. Ina’s warmth and compassion earned her the title of comrade and confidant to all who knew her in the store. Lonnys is more than just a clothing store; it is a symbol of one woman’s work and dedication to turn every stranger into a friend.

Today, Lonnys includes 5 stores in some of the most prominent shopping districts in Long Island, as well as a newly launched website Lonnys.com. Maintaining their tradition, Lonnys feels that each customer is as important as the first who walked through the doors in Oceanside in 1971.
